Results of Treatment
Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is a highly effective treatment for lymphedema and other chronic edemas. Results are best acheived after early diagnosis (within a few months), but a reduction can still be accomplished after many years of swelling. Other complicating factors, such as decreased kidney function or a heart or thyroid condition can make management of lymphedema difficult, but not impossible. It is best to see your physician for a diagnosis and then be referred to a therapist specially trained in the treatment of lymphedema.
Below are pictures of patients in our clinic from before and after a course of treatment with CDT. We have successfully treated swelling in all parts of the body. Most commonly, edema occurs in the arms, legs and head/neck.
